Consultation

What to Expect When You Visit Us

There’s no appointment required for our standard three-week valuation service — simply bring your jewellery or watches to our office, and we’ll guide you through the process.

Here’s what will happen when you arrive:

Private Consultation – You’ll be welcomed into one of our private rooms, ensuring your visit is comfortable and discreet.

Initial Review – We’ll carefully examine your items and let you know if a valuation is recommended.

Valuation Options – We’ll explain the different types of valuations available and help you choose the option that best suits your needs.

Quote – You’ll receive a quote before making any decisions.

Secure Handover – If you decide to proceed, we’ll issue you a detailed receipt for your items. All jewellery and watches are kept safe and fully secure while they remain with us.

Timeframe – Our standard valuation service takes around three weeks. If you need your valuation completed urgently, please book ahead for our Same-Day or While-You-Wait service.

Preparation

Processing – Your jewellery is carefully weighed, photographed, and professionally cleaned in preparation for valuation.

Examination – A qualified gemmologist will inspect each item under a microscope, checking for signs of damage or wear. If repairs are recommended, we’ll let you know how they can help keep your jewellery safe and secure.

Repairs – If any repairs are required, they will be carried out by our trusted local manufacturing jeweller, who has over 30 years of experience. You’ll always receive a detailed quote first, and no work will be done without your approval.

Refurbishment – While every item receives a professional clean as part of the process, you may also choose to have your jewellery fully refreshed. Our jeweller can provide expert polishing to restore shine, or rhodium plating for your white gold rings, bringing them back to a like-new finish. We can provide a quote when we see your jewellery for this additional service.

Analysis and Research

Valuation - Our qualified Gemmologists will then begin work on your valuation.

Our lab has a range of equipment to test your jewellery. Metals are analysed with our x-ray machine, light refractors help identify coloured gemstones, and our Sherlock Detector can even tell lab-grown from natural diamonds. Gemstones and settings are measured, counted and graded.

We will examine the setting of the item and consider the craftsmanship and provenance of each item.

The value of the item will then be calculated taking into consideration all of the above information.
